Ubisoft announced today that it is planning on releasing a prequel in the Assassin’s Creed series titled Altair’s Chronicles for the Nintendo DS and will be released this February. The new title will take place before the events in Assassin’s Creed and plans to explore more of the backstory and personality of the anti-hero Altair. Players will still fight their way through four cities of the Middle East during the Crusades by using acrobatic fighting techniques matched with combo moves that blend together hand-to-hand combat moves and sword fighting techniques.

Tony Key, the Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Ubisoft, says that “the success of Assassin’s Creed worldwide has been incredible and we’re excited to delve deeper into the story and bring it to the Nintendo DS.” Key also offered the assurance that “Assassin’s Creed: Altair’s Chronicles will be a title that resonates with those who played the console version as well as those who have yet to discover the secrets of Assassin’s Creed.”

For more information on Assassin’s Creed: Altair’s Creed visit the official page at www.assassinscreed.com.
