Posted by Nick McCavitt, Feb 7, 2008 13:28

Konami Digital Entertainment announced this week that the oft rumored Metal Gear Solid: The Essential collection package will be released for the Playstation 2 Console. This bundled edition will contain the first Metal Gear Solid for the Playstation 1 and a director’s cut version of Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3. The games will be included together in a newly designed commemorative box, which features artwork designed by famed Metal Gear Solid Artist Yoji Shinkawa.

Anthony Crouts, the Vice President of Marketing for Konami, stated that “Since its inception, the Metal Gear Solid franchise has been one of the most successful game series in the history of video games, receiving worldwide recognition and praise.” Mr. Crouts also went on to add that “Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection represents a great value for gamers, bringing together three must-have classic titles, which pioneered the stealth action genre.”

Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Edition, upon its release, will be sold for $29.99 and will bear an ESRB rating of M for Mature. Please visit www.konami.com for more information.
