What would a box office smash be without some opening day glitches?

As everyone already knows; Super Smash Bros. Brawl was released yesterday, March 9th in the US. What you may not know is that many gamers have been experiencing issues with the game disc that they received. According to recent reports, gamers have been sliding in the discs and receiving disc read errors and not the ultimate smash fest that they expected.

Nintendo has already responded to the situation by opening a free repair facility to deal with the damages; however, the issue is not with the game disc…

“Super Smash Bros. Brawl utilizes a double-layer disc which has a large memory capacity. A very small percentage of Wii consoles may have trouble consistently reading data off this large capacity disc if there is some contamination on the lens of the disc drive.” (Nintendo)

Nintendo then added that they are advising everyone to let them handle the issue and to not attempt to clean the lens, doing so could result in the damage of other pieces of Wii hardware. Instead, gamers should fill out the proper form at the Nintendo Support Site.
Furthermore, Nintendo has stated that they have specialized cleaning equipment that can resolve the issues and that getting the game disc replaced will not resolve the issue.

More information to come as it is released.
