We recently posted that Mortal Kombat 8 was in fact Mortal Kombat Vs DC Comics, bringing the two franchises together for the first time. In an interview with ComputerandVideogames.com, Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon, stated that Mortal Kombat Vs DC Comics was nearly Mortal Kombat Vs Street Fighter. During the interview, he goes into detail on some of the problems that arose while proposing the idea:

“If we were to do a Street Fighter vs. Mortal Kombat game, who’s going to develop it, and who’s going to own the rights to it? It’s that kind of issue.” Said Ed Boon.

“I did a couple of write-ups and whatnot on it, and sometimes we’d get really close to it but issues like our representative for the other company left the company for some reason, and that reset the whole thing back to beginning.”

It was that close, when asked if it could ever come up again “Maybe, I still want to see it happen.”
