Call of Duty series and James Bond will combine.
Posted by Nick McCavitt, 2 days ago May 9, 2008 17:11
Activision is currently buzzing with excitement and opportunity this year. After its recent astonishing successes with such games as Call of Duty 4 and Rock Band, the company is now turning toward the future of its Call of Duty series. According to the information we’ve obtained, Activision has been formulating plans to release its new Call of Duty title somewhere before the end of the 2009 fiscal year. This places the release date for the as yet unplanned Call of Duty 5 before March 31st of next year and, according to the CEO of Activision Mike Griffith, the new Call of Duty title will parallel the widespread release of it’s predecessor. Activision intends to release COD5 for the Xbox 360, PS3, PC, and the Nintendo DS, but will also make the game available for owners of the Nintendo Wii and the Playstation 2.

I love it when a family comes together again.

In an effort to keep the series fresh, Call of Duty 5 will have brand new“military theater” of operations that has not been seen in any other COD game before. Of greater concern at the moment, however, is who will be placed in charge of the development of the new title. The common belief was that the developer of Call of Duty 3, Teyarch, would return to work it’s magic on this latest version and bring it back to the original WW2 flavor that the series served up for so long, but that no longer appears to be the case. It is too soon to say anything, however, as Mr. Griffith did not offer any hints about whether it would be Call of Duty 4’s developer Infinity Ward or the above mentioned Treyarch who would be given the responsibility.

Mr. Griffith also let it be known that the game engine that was the powerhouse behind Call of Duty 4 is also going to be the beating heart of the James Bond game that is currently in development by Treyarch. This latest Bond title will be hitting shelves roughly the time of the newest movie, titled Quantum of Solace, which will be showing up on silver screens all across the US in the fall of this year.
