Microsoft claims that the Xbox 360 is the first Next-Gen console to break the 10 million [units sold] mark in America. "History has shown us that the first company to reach 10 million in console sales wins the generation battle," said Microsoft Senior VP Don Mattrick in a statement.
It may look all rosy at the moment, but Microsoft needs to be wary of Nintendo, as according to Reuters: “The Wii is closing on the 360 with 8.8 million units sold as of the end of March, while Sony has totaled 4.1 million PS3 units sold, according to market research firm NPD.”
Sony is a fair few off, but Nintendo is definitely catching up. Microsoft also mentioned that Global Xbox Live Memberships have surpassed 12 Million users. That’s an amazing achievement, considering that Live costs $50.00/£39.99 for a Gold account.
