Plants Vs Zombies – Gardening Has Never Been Such Fun!

Everyone hates zombies, the average Joe, soldiers, and even aliens. Well now in the PC game PLANTS vs. ZOMBIES from POPCAP, the plants have their day! Originally released in 2009 on STEAM, with an iPAD and iOS version being released in February 2011, PLANTS vs. ZOMBIES then had a bit of a makeover before it debuted on XBLA® in September of the same year. PLANTS vs. ZOMBIES then moved onto Playstation 3® and Xbox 360® the following year, with BLACKBERRY PLAYBOOK and ANDROID following hot on their heels. In February 2012, POPCAP re-released the original Mac and Windows versions, and that is what I have in my sweaty palms at this moment.

PLANTS vs. ZOMBIES is a simple tower defense game where players place different types of plants and fungi, each with their own unique offensive or defensive capabilities. This is done to protect your house from the hordes of zombies that are after eating your brains. PLANTS vs. ZOMBIES, like most POPCAP games, lulls you into a feeling of security and just when you think you're on top of things, the game cranks it up a notch.

The first few levels are fairly easy. You plant your various plants in your garden, you obtain tokens for plants by clicking on the rays of sun light that appear on the screen. The sunflowers are producers of more sunlight, which gives you more tokens As you are planting, a horde of zombies ranging from disco to pole vaulting kinds, shuffle slowly towards your house, all while you frantically click sun rays and arrange your plants in offensive or defensive positions.

As the game progresses you find yourself battling zombies at night with a variety of lethal fungi, some of which can produce limited amounts of sunlight, therefore cranking up the game play. With tokens to collect from zombie's kills, you will eventually meet CRAZY DAVE who will sell you upgrades. With a pool added, rooftop levels and a lightning storm in pitch black, there is plenty of variety in this game, including changes in the gameplay itself with bowling modes for some of the levels.

PLANTS vs. ZOMBIES has bright colorful graphics and a great soundtrack. It also features some nice extra modes like SURVIVAL and a selection of zombie themed mini game versions of POPCAP games. The game also has a zen garden where players can care for the plants they have won in various levels

Summary

PLANTS vs. ZOMBIES is one of those games that will be around for a long time. It's just another classic tower defense game that is great to play and very addictive. I constantly wanted to see what was on the next level until my laptop screamed in submission, its little fan screaming away like a teenage girl at a spotty faced boy band. I give PLANTS vs. ZOMBIES 9 out of 10 as it is a very enjoyable and well put together game. It's now available on most hand held devices as well as consoles.
